Northdoor helped Freeview Establish its Independent Operation
Freeview, which provides 48 subscription-free digital television and 24 radio channels, has played a leading role in the successful adoption of digital terrestrial television in the UK. Freeview is managed by DTV Services Ltd, a company owned and run by its five shareholders - BBC, BSkyB, Channel 4, ITV and Arqiva. Launched in October 2002, Freeview provides free-to-air digital TV channels, radio stations and interactive services through under the Freeview brand.
After six years of operation, Freeview had grown sufficiently to leave its shared offices and shared IT systems at the BBC and establish an independent presence. It turned to Northdoor to design, build and configure a completely new IT infrastructure for its new home. This included the migration of all company data and the ongoing management of these IT systems.
“Northdoor came highly recommended from another company in our industry, and were able to fully support our hours of operation. Northdoor are big enough to offer the right level of cover and knowledge but they’re also small enough to understand our needs as a small company.”
Victoria Clench, Head of Finance and Governance, Freeview
