Northdoor team slept out in London to raise fund for homeless children and young people
14 October 2011
On 7 October 2011, 13 employees (and friends) from Northdoor sacrificed their warm and comfortable beds in order to raise money for Action for Children. The team were hoping to gain an insight in to what more than one hundred thousand children and young people are faced with every year.
“It's true, we only did it for a night. We were warm in our sleeping bags, provided with umbrellas should it rain, and treated to a beautiful view of the Tower of London on the evening... However, ‘roughing it’ is something of an unknown quantity to us,” Lex Palmer, one of the Northdoor sleepers, said.
The team are proud to have raised £9,500 for Byte Night Action for Children. They are grateful to their numerous benefactors, who gave generously in response to their numerous emails to friends and family, bake sales, bucket shaking and donations to auction.
“Byte Night is the IT industry’s annual sleep out in support of Action for Children. We are very proud to support this worthy cause that aims to keep vulnerable young people off the streets by enabling them to build better lives through education and training opportunities,” Jon Milward, Director of Managed and Support Services, said.
